Understanding Your Diagnosis and What You Can Actually Do About it

Understanding Your
Diagnosis and What
You Can Actually Do About it

Gestational diabetes occurs when pregnancy hormones interfere with insulin's ability to regulate blood sugar effectively. It's not your fault -it's not because you ate too much sugar or weren't healthy enough pre-pregnancy. It's a hormonal response that's more common than most people realize, affecting ~10% of pregnancies in the U.S.

Left unmanaged, GD can increase risks for both mom and baby including larger birth weight, early delivery, a higher likelihood of a C-section, and future risk of type 2 diabetes. But here's what most women aren't told: nutrition and lifestyle are the most powerful tools you have, and for many women, they're enough.

What GD Actually Feels Like

You're already exhausted, emotional, and growing a human. Then you get a diagnosis that comes with a glucometer, a vague handout about carbs, and a follow-up appointment three weeks away. It's terrifying and you deserve more support than that.
